Landing Page Variations
This report allows you to monitor the landing pages that your competitors are using. This report has multiple uses, allowing you to analyse the landing pages of your competitors, manage your affiliates and identify counterfeiters and brand hijacking.
If your competitors are able to be consistently more aggressive than you, it could be due to a better combination strong of ad copy and landing pages. This report will list your competitors and their ad copy, provide a direct link to their landing page and highlight how often that particular landing page URL been accessible. This allows you to compare and analyse who is managing expectations better from ad copy through to landing pages.
The report is also useful for identifying affiliates bidding on your brand terms. If you suspect that an affiliate is bidding on a brand and breaching the terms of your affiliate agreement, use the Landing Page Variations report to identify who they are. If it links through to their site you should know who they are when clicking through. If they have linked directly to your site, simply take the affiliate ID out of the URL and identify who was allocated that ID.
It is also possible to use the Landing Page Variation Report to identify brand hi-jacking and counterfeiting. You can spot this by monitoring which destination URLs appear for your display URLs. If you find an unknown destination URL listed, there is a good chance that your brand term has been hi-jacked at some point. Depending on whether it is an affiliate, counterfeiter or other rogue bidder, you should first measure impact on your traffic based on how long they have appeared, and then take appropriate action.
